In this show, we preview the upcoming Bromley game. I spoke to Charles two Fridays ago, but just didn't get around to putting this out. It's a fun interview and I think you will enjoy it. It's a barebones show, no music only a Led Zep tease.
After the Bromley game we talk about fandom in general. I talk about my experience at a New York Ranger Hockey game and Charles talks about Stonebridge road.
What I didn't get to talk about are the x rated chants at Madison Square Garden. At the garden, back in the 1980's, whole sections of people would stand up and chant, You You You, F**k You, to either an opposing fan or player, some corporate looking type or possibly no one in particular.
Of course, the best chants were reserved for the most infamous opposing player and probably one of the great all time defensemen in the game, Denis Potvin (pronounced in New York as Pot-Van). The fans never forgave him for a hard check (body hit) on Ulf Nilsson. Click here for the Sports Illustrated story I just found on the web.
The best chant came about because of a story of spousal abuse, which might have be an urban myth, but was a great excuse to get on that player.
The Garden organist would play and the fans would chant "Beat your wife Potvin, Beat your wife".
At the time the Rangers were in the middle of a 54 year drought of not winning the Championship, and having the new crosstown rival Islanders win 4 in a row.

Sorry if I drifted off. Enjoy the podcast.
