I’ve got a short fun show for you today. Charles and I discuss the Hayes and Yeading win. The talk about the weather. Charles correctly predicted that, even though there was sunshine on Friday, the snow came in and the Staines game was postponed. So was the Maidstone game. This lead us to a talk about changing the Kent Cup format so that there would be less fixture congestion and more meaningful games. Finally, a salute from Lord Charles to everyone listening. Nope he doesn’t sing a Christmas carol, but he sends his best to all.

Finally, I wrap up the pod with some news from the Myfootballclub website. At this time there are 3 live proposals. Take a look.

New MYFC Podcast Show No. 16

myfootballclub.co.uk

This is the snowbound show. I've got 2 interviews with Lord Charles. We recorded these while all those games were being postponed due to the snow.

If you haven’t heard, the Fleet just keep rolling on despite the layoff.

Last Saturday was another win, this time 3-1 against Hayes and Yeading in the FA Trophy

In the first interview, Charles and I speculate aoubt the Kent Senior Cup game against Maidstone and how it might get postponed. It did. Then a little about the last time the Fleet were on a long FA Cup run and how the snow affected those matches. That would be back in 1963. We talk about the reserve teams and how players move up the ranks.

In the second interview, Charles gives a preview of the Hayes and Yeading game. Unfortunately, due to a tape malfunction that segment wasn’t recorded. Needless to say, it was about how Hayes and Yeading beat us twice last year. Probably the low points of the that season. Also how Ram Marwa would be facing his old team. Moot Point. We won. On to Staines.

Charles gives us his exclusive on his top Fleet Players so far this year. Then I try to give a preview of the Tottenham Chelsea game. Doesn’t really go that well. Finally we go off topic and talk about different pitches the beauty of Stonebridge Road and thanks to Peter Norton for all his work with the pitch at Stonebridge Road.

On this show we preview the now postponed Hampton and Richmond Borough game and recall the excellent 4-0 dismantling of Bromley. Talk a little about the aftermath again of the 3-2 loss to AFC Wimbledon and how the Fleet just bounced right back. The Fleet just keep rolling and only the snow can stop it. Well, this was a tough show to do. Charles and I talk about the FA CUP 3-2 loss to AFC Wimbledon. Maybe the toughest part was the loss, because the Fleet stood up to the top team in Non League and were within 15 seconds of winning. I'll say it here and you'll hear it on the show, the Fleet can match up with any team. This was the toughest team that we will face for the rest of the year. There will be tough matches coming up, like today's FA Trophy match against Bromley (November 23, 2010), and other league match-ups but note another team as strong as AFC Wimbledon.

Well it's another great win. This time a dismantling of Welling 4-0.
And we talk about the AFC Wimbledon draw last Saturday. A little about this Saturday's league game at Maidenhead. Revenge is on the minds of the Fleet team as we look to avenge an earlier loss at Stonebridge road. This time the Fleet is a team. Let's not underestimate the win against Welling. Without the points deduction they would be in first. But after Tuesday's win and the Dover loss, the Fleet sit in the Playoff Zone and are looking for more.
One game at a time. Next Thursday's replay against AFC Wimbeldon is a boon for the club. Money wise we're looking for a great payday. Publicity wise, well, the game is being broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel here in the states. Check local listings. The game is also live in England. What a turn of fortunes eh.

This time its all talk and no music. I got a little backed up with the interviews. So here are 2 chats with Lord Charles. The first is where we preview the St. Albans game and talk a little about AFC Wimbledon. Then we talk a little strategy and another fleet player of the past: Steve Brown. This interviews big surprise is the proposal for an Ebbsfleet Hall of Fame. This idea has been around before, but here, it's put front and center. It would be a great way to connect the Fleet heroes of the past with today's fans.
A quick musical interlude. Can't help myself and then another chat. This time we talk about the upcoming AFC Wimbledon FA Cup match. Then compare this year's Fleet with last years Fleet and then another surprise. We talk about the Fleet's longest tenured coach, Tony Sitford. Who's next on the list? Current Manager Liam Daish. It looks like early next year, Liam will pass Tony for the longest tenured coach. You're a witness to history. We're going to have to throw a party or something.
Enjoy.

Another game. Another victory. Let's keep it going. Welcome again to the podcast. On this week's show I talk to Charles about the previous 1-0 victory against Boreham Woods in league play. And then we preview the FA Cup match against, what was it again? Oh yes Boreham Woods. We talk a little strategy about facing the same team twice in one week. Then chat a little about the legend: Steve Portway. Charles waxes poetic about the all time Fleet leading scorer. Then I give the usual Youth and Ladies update. The Ladies hit a bump on the road with the SEC Cup, but I think they'll pick it up in their next game. Seems like the U18's are advancing in the FA Youth Cup. Not only is the present bright, but so is the future.
Enjoy.

In this show, we preview the upcoming Bromley game. I spoke to Charles two Fridays ago, but just didn't get around to putting this out. It's a fun interview and I think you will enjoy it. It's a barebones show, no music only a Led Zep tease.
After the Bromley game we talk about fandom in general. I talk about my experience at a New York Ranger Hockey game and Charles talks about Stonebridge road.
What I didn't get to talk about are the x rated chants at Madison Square Garden. At the garden, back in the 1980's, whole sections of people would stand up and chant, You You You, F**k You, to either an opposing fan or player, some corporate looking type or possibly no one in particular.
Of course, the best chants were reserved for the most infamous opposing player and probably one of the great all time defensemen in the game, Denis Potvin (pronounced in New York as Pot-Van). The fans never forgave him for a hard check (body hit) on Ulf Nilsson. Click here for the Sports Illustrated story I just found on the web.
The best chant came about because of a story of spousal abuse, which might have be an urban myth, but was a great excuse to get on that player.
The Garden organist would play and the fans would chant "Beat your wife Potvin, Beat your wife".
At the time the Rangers were in the middle of a 54 year drought of not winning the Championship, and having the new crosstown rival Islanders win 4 in a row.

Sorry if I drifted off. Enjoy the podcast.

Welcome again. This is show No. 7. I can't get enough of a good thing, so I talk to Lord Chas about the win against Weston Super Mare. We talk about the man of that match. We talk a bit about an unheralded player Ram Marwa. More about the Fleet's winning ways in this division and a little about a Fleet player who passed away. Charles does a nice job talking about Jim Towers, a Fleet player from the past.

I've got another great interview with Lord Chas. We discuss last week's win over Dorchester Town. I can't get enough of a good win. Then we talk a little about the upcoming match against Weston Super Mare. I've been reading a few football books lately. The first is Soccernomics by Simon Kuper and the other, Winning at All Costs by John Foot about Italian Football. That put me the frame of mind to talk a little about football tactics. We also don't neglect the upcoming game against Weston Super Mare.
I looked at the weeks fixtures and saw a very important BSBS match: Dartford vs Bromley. We get into that a bit. Finally, we go off topic and muse about romantic losers.
I have to apologize for the interview audio. I had some technical difficulty. It only recorded on 1 channel. I don't know if there are any issues until I'm home and doing the mixdown. I eliminated as much noise as I could so that you can hear it clearly. It's just not in stereo.
Still, I was very excited about the interview after last week's somewhat meager chat.
Enjoy.

Well it's back from holidays for me and even though I was back at work, it still took me about a week to decompress. But I was able to interview Lord Chas and get his take on the then, new striker, Gareth Williams and his take on the Dorchester game.
Now for those who don't know, we won that game 2-1 on a late goal by Craig Stone.
All in all, a very good result which moves us up to 9th in the table.

I include a brief run down of the Ladies and Youth teams.
The best news is that the new Myfootballclub website should be up and running by the time this podcast is up.
